As someone who has dedicated his life to serving and protecting our community, I believe one of the most powerful tools we have to reduce crime, increase accountability, and create safer neighborhoods is community policing.
Community policing is not just a strategy — it’s a commitment to partnership. It means law enforcement officers don’t just patrol neighborhoods; they become part of them. They know the people, understand the challenges, and work alongside residents to find solutions. That kind of connection builds trust, and where there is trust, there is cooperation — and where there is cooperation, there is safety.
In too many communities across Shelby County, residents feel disconnected from law enforcement. They feel unseen, unheard, and underserved. That must change.
As your next sheriff, I will make community policing the foundation of my administration. This means:
Placing more officers on foot and bike patrols — not just behind the wheel
Hosting monthly neighborhood forums to hear concerns directly from residents
Collaborating with local youth programs to keep young people off the streets and in safe environments
Providing de-escalation and cultural competency training for every deputy
Creating Community Advisory Boards that reflect the diversity and voices of our neighborhoods
Policing should never be about control — it should be about care. When people know that law enforcement is invested in their well-being, they are more likely to come forward with information, partner with us on prevention efforts, and help shape the future of public safety.
This isn’t just a campaign promise — it’s a community movement. The future of Shelby County depends on us working together, shoulder to shoulder, to restore peace and protect every resident, no matter their zip code.
Let’s put the “unity” back in “community.” Don’t get it confused! WE ARE NOT PLAYING AROUND with crime and public safety.
Together, we will build a safer Shelby County — one relationship at a time.
